Dr. Kayıhan received LL.B. degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Law (Istanbul/Turkey) in 1992 and LL.M. degree from Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences (Istanbul/Turkey) by his thesis entitled “Pledge over Commercial Enterprise (Ticari İşletmenin Rehni)” in 1994. In 1998, he obtained his Ph.D. degree from Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences (Istanbul/Turkey) by his dissertation entitled “Agency Agreements in Turkish Law (Türk Hukukunda Acentelik Sözleşmesi)”.

His areas of expertise are the law of commercial enterprise, negotiable instruments law, corporate law, civil law, insurance law, private international law, M&As and investment law.

Dr. Kayıhan served as an associate professor and the Head of the Department of Commercial Law at Sakarya University Faculty of Law (Sakarya/Turkey) between 2006-2011. As Dr. Kayıhan had lectured at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University Faculty of Law (Istanbul/Turkey) between 2012-2014, he has been continuing his academic and administrative works at Hasan Kalyoncu University Faculty of Law (Gaziantep/Turkey) as of 2014.

In addition to his academic works, Dr. Kayıhan advised numerous Turkish and foreign companies and institutions. Plus, he served as an arbitrator and the president of the arbitral tribunals in many disputes regarding domestic arbitration.

Dr. Kayıhan has been providing service as an official mediator, and he is still serving as an arbitrator at the Insurance Arbitration Commission.

Prof. Dr. Şaban Kayıhan is a member of Istanbul Bar Association.
